About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will join a cross-disciplinary team supporting new product development and current manufacturing of sensors for the aviation industry. You will contribute to the mechanical design, fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of aerospace sensors, working with engineers across multiple disciplines to bring designs from concept to production. The internship offers the opportunity to learn fundamental principles of the aviation industry, participate in multidisciplinary technology development, gain exposure to regulations, and practice presenting technical information.

Requirements

Be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and remain actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Have experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Creo and/or SolidWorks.
Be a U.S. citizen; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

Experience with mechanical design and modeling software such as ANSYS and/or MATLAB.
A minimum of 60 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint.
Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

Support existing products through investigations, design improvements, and documentation updates.
Perform tolerance analysis on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit and function.
Use CAD solid-modeling techniques to prepare component and assembly models and drawings.
Write test requests, support design verification and testing, and analyze test data.
Specify material joining methods and specifications for processes such as welding and brazing.
