DoorDash Labs is DoorDash’s innovation hub, established in 2018 to develop automation and robotics solutions that enhance last-mile logistics. Its mission is to create technologies that support and augment human networks and improve efficiency for Dashers, merchants, and consumers. The team focuses on business impact and includes experienced professionals from various robotics industries. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the mechanical design process for DoorDash’s next-generation autonomous delivery vehicle, including design, analysis, prototyping, and validation. You will design components and sub-assemblies with support from your mentor, manager, and teammates; create production-quality 3D CAD models and drawings; and present your work in cross-functional design reviews. You will collaborate with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure designs integrate well and can be manufactured, assembled, and serviced at fleet scale. You will also learn to validate designs through prototype builds, bench testing, tolerance analysis, and structural analysis, and incorporate feedback. This summer internship is for a student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with no more than two years of full-time work experience. Applicants should be available to start in May or June 2027. Internships are hosted only during the summer. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. The national U.S. base pay range, including Illinois and Colorado, is $89,100–$131,000. Actual compensation depends on factors such as skills, relevant experience, and work location. DoorDash offers regular employees a comprehensive benefits package; the posting does not specify which benefits apply to this internship.
