About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will join a project team and assist engineering team members with project work. Projects may involve designing new systems and components or modifying and upgrading existing systems and components at power plants or industrial facilities. Under the direction of senior engineers, the intern will apply and expand their academic background in mechanical engineering. The target start date is summer 2027.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Strong academic background and coursework in mechanical systems analysis, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and/or heat transfer.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have U.S. work authorization; the employer does not sponsor work authorization for this position.

Nice To Haves

• Prior related internship or co-op experience.
• Understanding of the practical application of mechanical engineering principles.
• Enrollment in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Interest in learning and effectively using emerging technologies where relevant; experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued where relevant but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Support project reporting tasks, including tracking and evaluating project activities, progress, and related data.
