Mechanical Engineering Intern
About The Position
FHP Manufacturing, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a joint venture between Robert Bosch (BOSCH Group) and Carrier. FHP Manufacturing is a leader in the production of geothermal and water source heat pumps, providing some of the most efficient heating and cooling comfort solutions in the industry. This internship will involve assisting engineers with developing test plans for HVAC unit rating, qualification, and reliability testing, supporting these testing processes, and aiding in product design and development. The intern will also be tasked with identifying and addressing product design issues that affect production or operation.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering disciplines (Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of CAD (NX, Pro-E, AutoCAD or other packages)
- Proficient with hands on skills (cutting, forming, fabricating, brazing, welding)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to perform mechanical design calculations
- Ability to perform basic design modifications
Responsibilities
- Assist engineers with developing test plans for HVAC unit rating, qualification and reliability testing
- Support unit rating, qualification and reliability testing
- Assist engineering in product design and development
- Support engineers with product development tasks such as testing and test support
- Proactively identify and address product design issues that adversely affect production or product operation
- Test prototypes and write reports to document results
- Develop basic detail and assembly drawings for products and equipment
