About The Position
This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Anaheim, California. Over 10-12 weeks, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This role offers hands-on experience supporting active project work. In this role, you will support project documentation, coordination, and job site observations while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You will contribute to healthcare-focused MEP work, including hospital renovations, expansions, and research facilities, while supporting high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.
Requirements
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with mechanical system design tasks in accordance with applicable codes and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources for project use.
- Support client communication, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation.
- Coordinate design and schedule needs with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier teams.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.
- Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
- Work within the project’s monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
