About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Summer 2027 Mechanical Engineering Intern to support our San Diego, CA office. For interns working during the academic school year, you will be working a minimum of 20 hours per week. As part of our mechanical design team, interns will assist engineering staff in heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems design duties.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 3 years completed coursework in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Highly motivated and capable of working effectively in a team environment.
• 3D modeling experience.
• Excellent English language and communication skills, written and verbal, are essential to succeed in this role.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF manipulation software (Bluebeam) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of construction plans using Revit 3D modeling software.
• Prepare design calculations under direction of engineering staff.
• Assist in the preparation of project pursuit materials.
• Support in the preparation of written and graphic reports.
• Assist with data collection, input, verification, and manipulation.

Benefits

• The approximate compensation range for this position is $20 - $25 per hour.
