About The Position

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Associate in Orlando, FL. You will be the Mechanical Engineering Design supporting development and production of sensors and missile systems. As the Mechanical Engineering Designer Asc, you will be responsible for supporting the Integrated Product Team in creating detailed designs, layouts, and drawings for various components and subassemblies. You will play a key role in developing and generating CREO layouts, detailed drawings, and design documentation, ensuring seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in an Engineering related field
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical design engineering principles and familiarization with industry practices
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform basic tolerance analysis
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Creo or similar 3D computer-aided design software in a professional or academic setting.
  • Have the ability to generate engineering drawings, documents, parts lists and specifications
  • Have the ability to work with team members and contribute to projects
  • Have the ability to contribute to investigative efforts and report status to interdisciplinary teams
  • This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands‑on experience with machining, rapid prototyping, or lab equipment (CNC, 3‑D printers, test rigs)
  • Experienced with GD&T, sketching, technical drawing standards, or similar hands-on hardware support.
  • Participation in engineering clubs, competitions (e.g. SAE, ASME competitions).
  • Basic understanding of industry standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
  • Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM
  • Coordinating with the IPT team, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence
  • Managing drawing releases, responding to CRs, generating CN's, and presenting/supporting change boards and design reviews
  • Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits
