About The Position

Gorbel's mission is to improve people's lives, guiding all aspects of their operations from products and services to their employee work environment. They are a manufacturer of material handling and fall protection products for the production and warehouse/distribution sectors, focused on innovation and elevating products and processes. This co-op position is for the Spring block, running from January to August.

Requirements

Enrollment in a 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree program
Highly motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines and high-quality requirements

Responsibilities

Assist Product Development mechanical engineers in the conceptualization, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing product designs using sound mechanical engineering principles.
Analyze specifications, as well as business, technology & cost requirements, and implement appropriate, approved designs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Take steps necessary to ensure product reliability, performance, and customer acceptance.
Conceptualize and develop material handling products using sound mechanical engineering principles under the guidance of the Mechanical Engineering Manager and lead mechanical engineers.
Adhere to suitable design and documentation practices and methodologies.
Support internal and external customers in product use and application as required.
Support vendors in product and sub-component fabrication as required.
Adhere to project timelines and budgets.
Participate in Product Development department projects as assigned.
Participate on company teams as assigned.
Participate in the execution of functional as well as accelerated life tests to ensure product reliability and performance.
Provide support and documentation to enable company staff to quote and source materials.
Participate in the identification and recommendation of new material handling technology solutions.
Serve as a technical resource to other departments as required.
Execute ECR’s (Engineering Change Requests).
Execute ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices).
Create and maintain CAD solid models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.
Perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis) using SolidWorks Simulation.
Develop and maintain organized supporting design calculations.
Create and maintain product BOM’s & Routings in ERP software CSI9 (CloudSuite Industrial).
