We are looking for an enthusiastic co-op to join our automation/integration team in a position that will give you the opportunity to work among our engineers and in collaboration with our packing equipment sales team, OEM’s and suppliers. Your insightful contribution will help further develop, expand and maintain our solution offerings. This co-op will help you acquire knowledge and experience with packaging and robotics equipment and how best to utilize that equipment in automating the production and manufacturing process. In addition, you will gain broad business experience and should be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment.

Requirements

  • Current university enrollment in a mechanical engineering degree program.
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCad or similar.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent math skills; ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems.
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Technical writing skill.
  • Flexibility and openness to a changing environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn and process information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the automation team in assessing the specific needs and challenges of an end user’s application.
  • Support the analysis of problems or deficiencies in that application and assist in the development of solutions to meet customer objectives.
  • Assist in selecting packaging equipment and robotic components, such as robotic arms, sensors, vision systems, and end-of-arm tools, based on the application requirements and the task the equipment and/or robot will perform.
  • Implementing software programs to control the robotic systems. This could include learning to program the robots to perform specific tasks, follow trajectories, and interact seamlessly within the end user’s systems.
  • Conduct thorough testing of equipment and/or robotic systems to ensure they meet performance standards and safety requirements.
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
  • Create plans and designs using CAD technology.
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and maintenance guidelines that will be included in our business proposals.
  • Collaborate with all of our inter-departmental teams and work with vendors and contractors.
