About The Position

GCX is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Co-op / Intern to join our engineering team in Franklin, MA. GCX is a leading provider of mounting and mobility solutions for medical devices and equipment used in healthcare facilities worldwide. This hands-on opportunity provides students and recent graduates with practical experience in a collaborative manufacturing environment where engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain teams work together to bring products from concept to production. The position will support a variety of engineering activities, including product testing, engineering documentation, design support, ERP system maintenance, and manufacturing-related projects. While exposure to product design and CAD tools is part of the role, this position offers a broader view of the engineering function and the many processes required to develop, document, manufacture, and sustain products. This role is ideal for candidates interested in gaining real-world experience across multiple aspects of engineering and manufacturing while working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Open to junior and senior undergraduate students, recent graduates, and graduate students.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with CAD software; SolidWorks or Creo preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to manufacturing processes related to sheet metal, machining, assembly, or quality inspection.
  • Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, etc.) to support research, documentation, data analysis, and workflow automation.
  • Experience with 3D printing

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical engineering projects, product testing, and validation activities.
  • Support engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and design records.
  • Utilize the IFS ERP system to maintain and update engineering data and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, documentation, and reporting using digital tools and automation.
  • Support manufacturing, quality, and engineering initiatives as needed.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $27 -$30 per hour
