You would be responsible for conceiving, developing, producing, and maintaining radio products, mechanical solutions for tactical radios, accessories, and other communications equipment through all stages of their lifecycle. TrellisWare’s products are engineered to provide robust and reliable communication in harsh environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field of study required. Master’s degree a plus.
  • At least 5 years of applicable product development and manufacturing engineering experience for high technology electronics/communication products.
  • Experience across various engineering disciplines including electromechanical design preferred.
  • Experience designing portable, rugged devices that require balance between ruggedness, size/weight, and recurring cost.
  • Understand various materials (metal, plastic), fabrication processes (CNC machining, casting, molding, injection, etc.), and their cost/performance tradeoffs.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical design considerations.
  • Experience interfacing with Industrial Designers is a requirement.
  • Understand low volume, medium volume, and high-volume product design considerations.
  • Design for manufacturing/Concurrent Engineering experiences.
  • Experience in using SolidWorks and/or other 3D CAD software.
  • Expertise in thermal modeling and thermal design considerations.
  • Documentation skills and proficiency with PC office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative drive and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong initiative, proactive work ethic and prioritization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree a plus.
  • Experience with radios and/or DoD is a plus.
  • Personal Industrial Design skills are a plus.
  • Many of TrellisWare's positions require a security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. Responsibilities

  • Perform CAD design in SolidWorks.
  • Develop thermal models and perform thermal analyses of electronic and mechanical assemblies using FlowSimulation
  • Design and validate enclosure sealing solutions, including gasket and O-ring interfaces, to meet environmental and IP6X requirements.
  • Generate, review, and release engineering drawings and documentation, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Produce assembly procedures and fixtures.
  • Take ownership of the mechanical design of radio products and accessories.
  • Define, derive, and document mechanical system requirements.
  • Explore feasibility and applicability of new technologies, materials, processes to add to our mechanical design toolkit on both new and existing designs.
  • Oversee creation and release of fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Design, fabricate, and assemble prototypes and production fixtures to support product development, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Analyze designs for tolerance, yield, and environmental robustness.
  • Plan and execute conceptual and detailed development efforts.
