Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace/Manufacturing).
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware handling, repairs and power tools.
  • Strong commitment at work.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge about spacecraft flight hardware is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of mechanical design strategies for the Final Assembly Line (FAL), ensuring integration of mechanical flight hardware aligns with design specifications and production capacity requirements.
  • Serve as a technical owner of all Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE).
  • Monitor station and MGSE performance with respect to production capacity and quality.
  • Lead investigations and RCCA's aimed at resolving mechanical non-conformances (NCs) and anomalies in the assembly line and related mechanical systems.
  • Propose and implement data driven MGSE solutions and process improvements directed at enhancing production performance and maximum Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Define and manage MGSE maintenance requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance on the design and optimization of FAL workstations, GSE, and processes.
  • Support and act as a leader in the collaborative development of manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Own and serve as a technical point of contact for metrology, ensuring precision in manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Conduct various types of mechanical analysis to evaluate and improve system performances under varying operational conditions.
  • Advocate and support efforts aimed to improve and mature engineering processes fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between mechanical design engineering and production ensuring design to manufacturing principles and lessons learned are being considered and prioritized in product development.
  • Mentor peers and support team growth initiatives.
  • Support the production engineers and technicians on all topics concerning the manufacturing and assembly of flight hardware.
  • Develop comprehensive familiarity and expertise with manufacturing processes, satellite configurations and manufacturing process requirements (i.e. work instructions, non-conformances, rework procedures, hardware drawing and requirements, etc.).
  • Be the point of contact of the production engineers and technicians for exchanges with Flight design engineers.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Flight Design Engineering for implementation of design, process changes and for non-conformances management.
  • Support the setup of the production stations.
  • Lead production standard repairs and anomaly management.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles to solve difficult technical/quality problems or issues with raw materials and manufacturing processes.
