About The Position

Traysar was founded in 2025 by second time tech founders, recipients of the Israel Defense Prize, and engineers from elite military units, the Boring Company and SpaceX. Backed by Lux Capital and the founders of Anduril, the leading autonomous defense company, Traysar is reclaiming Western Deterrence by developing and deploying technologies for the 5th domain of warfare: the underground. Traysar is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The machines you are responsible for designing and getting built will be used to destroy hundreds of miles of tunnels currently used for terrorist activities. The candidate will work alongside a product team of electrical and mechanical engineers and report to the team lead. We are looking for an exceptional CAD engineer with outstanding SolidWorks (or NX) skills who is passionate about building real machines. The ideal candidate is early in their career, learns quickly, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to take ownership of complex mechanical systems from concept through testing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
• Exceptional proficiency in SolidWorks or NX. This is a must-have.
• Strong experience creating complex 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing processes.
• Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience designing heavy equipment, robotics, autonomous systems, or industrial machinery.
• Experience with hydraulic systems and mechanical integration.
• Demonstrated skills in FEA for structural analysis (ANSYS, FEMAP/Nastran, or similar).
• Experience designing for machining, sheet metal, welding, and additive manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience building, assembling, and testing mechanical systems.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• A portfolio of personal, academic, or professional engineering projects demonstrating exceptional CAD and mechanical design ability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test every mechanical aspect of the machine, including structures, hydraulic systems, and chassis components.
• Create high-quality 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings for production, assembly, and testing.
• Own hardware through the product life cycle (design, analysis, build, and test) and interface with others to define design requirements and implement solutions. This includes soldiers in the field who will provide feedback to improve the machine.
• Design and integrate subsystems for an autonomous mechanical machine operating in tunnels.
• Research and select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods.
• Create and maintain detailed tracking spreadsheets for system mass, cost, and build schedules for piece parts and assemblies.
• Support qualification plans (e.g., acoustic, vibration, shock, static load, thermal testing) to verify structural and thermal safety margins and correlate results with analysis models.
• Work closely with production, suppliers, and technicians to rapidly iterate designs and solve engineering problems.
