About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead capital projects while supporting ongoing manufacturing operations. This role will play a key part in facility expansion, equipment implementation, and driving production efficiency across the plant. The successful candidate will also provide guidance and oversight to a junior Process Engineer and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience leading or supporting capital projects
Strong project management and organizational skills
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
Experience with AutoCAD, project management tools, and data analysis tools
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Nice To Haves

Experience in regulated environments (food, pharmaceutical, or natural health products) is considered an asset
Knowledge of GMP and validation practices is an asset
Continuous improvement mindset (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

Responsibilities

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects including facility upgrades, equipment installation, and process improvements
Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
Review and approve engineering drawings, layouts, P&IDs, and equipment specifications
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout project lifecycle
Support day-to-day production by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, throughput, and product quality
Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and implement sustainable solutions
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
Support new product introduction and scale-up activities
Provide guidance, coaching, and oversight to a junior Process Engineer
Partner closely with Production, QA/QC, Maintenance, and R&D teams
Contribute to a collaborative, solutions-focused engineering culture
Ensure all engineering activities align with GMP and applicable regulatory standards
Support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for equipment and processes
Maintain accurate documentation including SOPs, change controls, and engineering reports
Promote and support a safe working environment
Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
