About The Position

The successful candidate will join the Engineering team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA’s Langley Research Center (LaRC). This position reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering ABET school.
  • Two (2) years of direct experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Applications is required
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks as scheduled is required
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment is required
  • Has comprehensive understanding of principles, theories, concepts, industry practices, standards, and their application as relevant to designing facility mechanical systems
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required for this specific position.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Trane Trace 3D and Bentley Autopipe is preferred
  • EIT certification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Designs building mechanical systems: HVAC, plumbing, and process systems using prescribed methods, and performs specific and limited portions of broader assignments
  • Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications
  • Responsible for performing all aspects of engineering design, including field work, equipment selections, drawing layout, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Participates in planning, cost development, and scheduling for assigned projects
  • Maintains effective communication with project team members and managers
  • Use of computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
