About The Position

Screen Innovations (SI) is an Austin, TX-based manufacturer of award-winning motorized projection screens and window shading systems. Our products live in high-end homes, commercial spaces, luxury yachts, and custom installs around the world. We are obsessed with design, performance, and pushing what’s possible in our category — and we move fast. Fun is the DNA of SI. We bring energy and creativity to everything we do — from dreaming up and designing, to building and delivering products that genuinely excite people. If you want your fingerprints on products that ship at scale and get noticed, this is the place. The Role We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to take products from concept to mass production. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle — from early napkin sketches through tooling, validation, and production launch — collaborating closely with Sr. ME’s, Electrical and Software Engineers, and our manufacturing partners. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who loves building things, solving hard problems, and seeing their work in the real world. You’ll have real ownership and real impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a product design or manufacturing environment (3 years minimum)
  • Expert-level CAD proficiency — SolidWorks and PDM strongly preferred; Inventor, Creo, or others considered
  • Hands-on experience with extrusions, injection molds, sheet metal, and/or electronic assemblies
  • Experience designing for medium-to-high volume consumer or commercial products
  • Willingness and ability to work in the shop — you’re comfortable with machine shop tools and making parts yourself
  • Experience testing products and running small test programs
  • Strong estimating skills: tooling cost, piece price, and design time
  • Proficient in Excel and MS Office
  • Clear, confident communicator — able to present successes and failures with equal honesty
  • Fast-paced, team-first mentality with a bias toward action

Nice To Haves

  • FEA analysis experience
  • Background working with industrial design consultancies
  • Experience in consumer product design, AV equipment, architectural products, or specialty hardware products

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components of new products from concept through production using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD
  • Build and test prototypes; validate designs against requirements and real-world conditions
  • Partner with other engineers and SMEs to balance performance, manufacturability, and aesthetics
  • Collaborate on tooling decisions and estimates — injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, extrusions, and machining
  • Communicate directly with contract manufacturers and custom part vendors
  • Define and execute test plans for moderately complex electromechanical systems
  • Manage BOM development with Purchasing from early design through production release
  • Lead design reviews — present work clearly, defend decisions, and take feedback constructively
  • Participate in Beta programs, interfacing with customers and incorporating real-world feedback

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability Insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan
  • 2 weeks PTO + paid holidays
