About The Position

Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations. The Services Instrumentation and Controls C10 / C35.6 systems engineer is responsible for designing, developing and testing Instrumentation and Control (I&C) platforms and systems that control safety critical functions for the BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. This role requires technical problem solving, requirements management, and effective communication/collaboration with other teams and engineering disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 2 years of experience in mechanical design in highly regulated industry.
  • For US - This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
  • For Canada GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.
  • For Canada - This position will report onsite to the Markham office 3 days a week.
  • This position requires access to and/or use of information subject to U.S. Export Control Laws, which mandate all citizenships (including dual citizenships) be from the U.S. Department of Energy’s List of Generally Authorized Countries (10 CFR Part 810 Appendix A, which includes Canada and can be found here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-10/chapter-III/part-810/appendix-Appendix A to Part 810 ) unless a specific authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy is obtained or unless you are a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or protected individual under the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Act (8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual or theoretical activities related to the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy.
