About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating engineering tasks and communicating with other organizational resources to complete project assignments on new or existing products and/or product lines. Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by being responsible for receiving, reviewing and evaluating project requests and planning general activities for project completion. You will analyze customer technical requirements and provide product recommendations. Associated activity will include generating new products through our NPD system or FOCUS process. You will carry out design and development work as planned to transform customer needs into final product. You will perform simulation tests and analyses, select materials, generate product specifications and reports to meet projects goals. You will research and interpret industry standards and associated requirements. You will create project scope and design goals to satisfy applicable requirements. You will work with cross functional teams to ensure completion of all tasks associated with project requirements. You will participate in laboratory testing, data collection and report generation. You will be responsible for reporting the status and progress of projects and performing additional duties to complete projects and assignments. You will conduct sustaining engineering investigations (such as product failures, customer complaints, variation notices, rejects and deviations), summarize findings and prepare and distribute appropriate solutions. You will initiate drawing orders, engineering changes, sample and prototype requests, purchase requests, and other necessary paperwork to complete project assignments and/or maintain assigned product line(s). You will interact with other departmental groups to complete other projects such as DFM, cost reductions, and improvements to product. You will attend trade shows, supplier visits, seminars and conferences as required to support sales and project needs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical degree from an accredited university or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with at least 3 years of engineering experience in Product Design or similar experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of design work & project implementation.
  • Comfortable with operating hydraulic power equipment, electronics and computer systems.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with other departments.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Able to build a timeline and manage activities within the timeline.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Proficient 3D CAD skills (i.e. Creo or Inventor preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office, e-mail, and other PC application skills.
  • Geometric dimension and tolerancing.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the power tool industry and hydraulic systems is a plus.
