About The Position
A mechanical engineer in a commercial elevator and escalator company is a key player in ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and efficiency of vertical transportation systems. This role involves the entire lifecycle of elevator and escalator systems, from initial design to ongoing maintenance and improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software for design and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Nice To Haves
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- Previous experience in the design, testing, and maintenance of elevator and escalator systems is preferred.
- Internships of relevant experience with commercial applications in manufacturing, product development, product experience, assembly lines, etc.
- Familiarity with the integration of modern technologies, such as IoT and smart systems, into vertical transportation.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop commercial elevator and escalator systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations in the design process.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed design drawings and specifications.
- Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to improve system functionality.
- Work closely with the testing team to address any issues and refine designs accordingly.
- Provide technical support for the maintenance team, offering expertise in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop preventative maintenance plans to extend the lifespan of elevator and escalator systems.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure that engineering projects are completed within the specified timeline and budget.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to address technical concerns and provide project updates.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards and regulations related to elevator and escalator systems.
- Ensure that all designs and installations comply with safety standards and local building codes.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in elevator and escalator technology.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in the vertical transportation industry.
