About The Position

Teradyne is expanding its centralized mechanical engineering capability in Agoura Hills to support next-generation semiconductor test equipment. This team partners across product development to solve complex mechanical and thermal challenges in high-performance capital equipment, from concept development through integration, verification, and release. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will own subsystem-level mechanical design work for complex capital equipment electromechanical systems. This role focuses on requirements translation, design release quality, manufacturability, integration, and verification closure for next-generation semiconductor test platforms used across computing, communications, mobility, and AI infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with typically 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with typically 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in mechanical design and product development for complex electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS, PDM or Teamcenter, and mechanical drawing release practices
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design fundamentals
  • Experience with structural analysis using hand calculations, SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, or similar FEA tools
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional project teams and driving technical work to closure
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Proactive, hands-on mindset with the ability to take ownership of assigned work and collaborate effectively across engineering teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with semiconductor test equipment, capital equipment, or high-density electronics packaging
  • Experience with PCBA/PCB interface constraints, electronics packaging, or dense electromechanical assemblies
  • Experience with machined parts, sheet metal, injection molding, castings, and 3D printing
  • Familiarity with SEMI standards
  • Experience supporting platform-level system designs, scalable architectures, or technical mentoring

Responsibilities

  • Drive assigned mechanical designs from concept through release, including CAD models, drawings, tolerance strategy, supplier feedback, design review closure, and verification support
  • Develop mechanical components, assemblies, and electromechanical subsystems for next-generation semiconductor test equipment
  • Translate system-level and product-level requirements into mechanical design specifications and actionable design solutions
  • Perform design trade-off analysis and make clear technical recommendations across product development phases
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design fundamentals to ensure functional and manufacturable designs
  • Conduct structural analysis using hand calculations, SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, or similar FEA tools
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers within assigned design or analysis scope
