About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer shall provide advanced mechanical engineering support for HVAC, plumbing, and infrastructure systems supporting Uniformed Services University Health Services campus. This position is contingent upon bid award.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum five (5) years relevant experience
  • Minimum three (3) years recent experience (within last 4 years)
  • Minimum five (5) years design/consulting experience
  • Expert HVAC systems knowledge
  • Analytical and cost estimation skills
  • Possess strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with DoD or healthcare facilities
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical consultation and support for large mechanical infrastructure repair and modernization projects
  • Develop Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Statement of Work (SOW) documents and prepare current working estimates
  • Review Architecture and Engineering (A/E) design drawings, specifications, submittents, and cost estimates for Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) compliance
  • Participate in project execution and kickoff meetings
  • Support Quality Assurance (QA) and safety compliance activities
  • Perform functional testing and commissioning of systems
  • Verify design, installation, functionality and performance of systems
  • Support construction activities ensuring compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and ASHRAE
  • Provide advisory support for maintenance and repair of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), water distribution, plumbing, laboratory gases, medical gas, fire suppression, building automation and control systems
  • Other duties as assigned
