About The Position

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support to the Navy’s Fleet Submarine Very Low and Low-Frequency Broadcast Engineering Support team. This position will be located in Charleston, SC and will be an onsite position that requires 50% travel.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain SECRET clearance.
  • Position requires U.S. Citizenship due to the nature of the role.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, 2-5 years of experience with Navy installations that include radio transmitters, antenna tuning systems, antennas, to include: specialized experience with installation, test and evaluation of RF broadcast transmitters.
  • Mechanical engineering support of C4ISR systems.
  • Experience in design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Ability to interpret and implement mechanical, electrical installation schematics and drawings.
  • Understanding of mechanical theory.
  • Methodical engineering approach with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Mechanical repair, maintenance and checkout.
  • Formal mechanical training, to include Installation Tasks, Cable Tray, and Conduit installation.
  • Ability to navigate and resolve ambiguity effectively.
  • Mathematical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding and/or experience desired in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and strong interest in LiDAR technology.
  • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with Six (2-5) years of experience with high powered radio transmitters, antenna tuning systems, antennas, electromagnetic propagation and allied fields, to include: Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Support, Test and Evaluation, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements.
  • Five (5) years of technical experience in support of installing, modifying, repairing or testing high power radio transmitting systems.
  • Mechanical installation and systems installation knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates mechanical installations, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of mechanical structures and materials.
  • Designs mechanical installation equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • May analyze systems and processes, including heat transfer, fluid dynamic and thermodynamic principles for energy efficiency improvements.
  • Provides installation, technical expertise, and training for all telecommunications equipment and components.
  • Installs, configures, terminates, and tests all telecommunications equipment, cables, connectors, and interfaces.
  • Performs intricate alignment and calibration procedures to ensure VLF/LF radio transmitter systems are operating efficiently.
  • Resolve system operational problems by troubleshooting and performing fault isolation.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform maintenance and repairs based upon manufacturer specifications and recommendations.
  • Responsible for engineering and/or installation activities within the telecommunications function including engineering, implementation, diagnostics, and operations/user support.
  • Monitors the operation of Radio Frequency (RF) mechanical systems and transition mediums.
  • Performs complex tasks relating to mechanical installations, and/or maintenance for local, off-site, and/or remote locations.
  • Gather technical requirements, conduct surveys and engage with clients, constructions crews, utility personnel, and various government departments.
  • Proficiently handle wiring and cabling installation and termination tasks.
  • Serves as a technical specialist for the resolution of complex RF Transmitter mechanical problems.
