About The Position
At HIPP, mechanical engineers design mechanical systems and utilities for industrial facilities. They specialize in designing HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection systems for pharmaceutical and biotechnology plants, from conceptual through detailed design. The role may include providing onsite client support as needed.
Requirements
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of design firm experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; HIPP is unable to sponsor work visas.
Nice To Haves
- P.E. certification.
- cGMP design experience.
- Up to 2 years of CAD and/or Revit exposure.
Responsibilities
- Estimate heating and cooling load requirements for HVAC systems.
- Calculate external static pressure for HVAC systems.
- Prepare HVAC zoning, pressurization, and airflow diagrams.
- Prepare ductwork layouts, details, and elevations.
- Size and select equipment.
- Perform mechanical utility calculations and establish requirements.
- Prepare general arrangement drawings.
- Prepare construction and equipment specifications.
- Prepare piping P&IDs, layouts, details, isometrics, and elevations.
- Review fire protection requirements.
- Calculate hydronic piping pressure drops and size pumping systems.
- Perform plumbing fixture load calculations.
- Determine plumbing requirements.
- Interpret and stay current with standards and codes.
- Provide onsite client support as needed.
