About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer supports the operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems across AUB and AUBMC facilities. The role ensures efficient, safe, and compliant performance of HVAC and associated infrastructure while promoting modern engineering practices through the effective use of digital tools, smart systems, and data-driven methodologies within a complex academic and healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in facilities, healthcare, or large institutional environments.
  • Proficiency in using INFOR EAM or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation platforms.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent applications.
  • Experience using data analysis and reporting tools to support maintenance and operational decision-making.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital asset management systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy and quality in work.
  • Excellent coordination and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated accountability, responsiveness, and a commitment to delivering timely results.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HVAC systems in complex facilities is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the performance and maintenance of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, ventilation, and mechanical equipment.
  • Monitors system performance and troubleshoot mechanical issues to ensure operational continuity.
  • Supports preventive and predictive maintenance programs in coordination with FMU teams.
  • Provides technical input during design review and execution of mechanical works for renovation and capital projects.
  • Reviews shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
  • Supports testing, commissioning, and handover processes for mechanical systems.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, and local regulations).
  • Supports implementation of PCRA, ICRA, and ILSM requirements where applicable.
  • Coordinates with the Safety and Sustainability Unit (SSU) to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Utilizes INFOR EAM for work order management, maintenance planning, and reporting.
  • Leverages digital systems and engineering tools to enhance system performance, monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of system performance, inspections, and interventions.
  • Coordinates with the Energy and Utilities Unit (EUU) on utility systems, capacity, and infrastructure alignment.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.
