About The Position
As a Mechanical Engineer in Lam Research’s Global Products Group, you will design and define mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for etch and deposition products. You will support the full life cycle of these systems, from concept through productization, including conceptualization, design, CAD modeling, development, and testing and validation. The role includes conducting feasibility studies, guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication, and providing design information that shapes product packaging. You will design components using materials such as metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings. You will analyze designs for structural performance, thermal behavior, stress, vibrations, fluid and gas flow, and manufacturability. You will also develop test plans, validate design performance, prepare technical reports and presentations, collaborate with suppliers and internal teams, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 12 or more years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 8 or more years of experience; or equivalent experience.

- Semiconductor industry experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Support the full life cycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems from concept to productization, including conceptualization, design, CAD modeling, development, and testing and validation.
- Design components using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
- Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI and Lam standards and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Conduct structural, finite element (FEA), thermal, heat transfer, stress, vibration, fluid and gas flow dynamics, and manufacturability analyses to specify designs.
- Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
- Prepare reports and technical presentations communicating design intent, evaluation, and validation in design reviews.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions are manufacturable, high-quality, cost-optimized, and meet requirements.
- Provide deliverables including FMEA, technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, and design review presentations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers.
