About The Position
Cenergistic is seeking a degreed Mechanical Engineer to support HVAC systems, building automation, and energy performance initiatives. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer eager to learn, contribute, and grow under experienced mentorship. The position involves applying engineering education to real-world HVAC and energy systems across large-scale facilities, helping to reduce energy waste, lower operating costs, and improve occupant comfort. The engineer will gain hands-on experience in controls, HVAC optimization, commissioning, and system performance within a mission-driven company that has saved clients billions in energy costs. A structured mentorship program with a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is in place to support the path to licensure.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 0–2 years of experience or relevant internships
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and thermodynamics
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and grow under mentorship
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with building automation systems
- EIT certification or progress toward FE exam
- Internship experience in HVAC or building systems
- Interest in energy conservation and sustainability
Responsibilities
- Support development and implementation of energy conservation standards and best practices
- Assist with HVAC, mechanical, and BAS system optimization efforts
- Review control strategies and sequences of operation under guidance
- Analyze HVAC and BAS data to identify performance opportunities
- Support commissioning and measurement & verification activities
- Collaborate with engineering teams and client stakeholders
- Assist with technical reports and performance analysis
- Participate in training and mentorship programs
- Ensure compliance with codes and standards
