About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems to meet project objectives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure technical excellence and project success, while driving innovation and efficiency in all aspects of mechanical engineering projects. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, including the ability to develop specifications, identify appropriate materials and processes, and utilize CAD software. The engineer will also conduct analyses and tests, interpret technical documentation, and research design proposals to ensure feasibility and quality. Responsibilities include developing and testing models, investigating equipment failures, and maintaining a safe work environment. The role may also involve performing comparable duties, promoting quality management systems, and applying specific skills related to the position. Experience in off-highway automation/autonomy and vehicle electronics is desired, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. Travel may be required, and US Persons are required for this position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, in field related to specific position.
  • Entry level or early career engineer 0-2 years with bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or master’s degree in engineering field.
  • Experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience in off highway automation and/or autonomy.
  • Strong experience with off highway vehicle electronics.
  • Well-developed problem analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Team player who is self-motivated and has the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
  • US Persons required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
  • Develops specifications for new parts or prototypes.
  • Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
  • Use CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products.
  • Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
  • Develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs.
  • Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
  • Develop or test models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area. Follow established safety and ergonomic standards.
  • May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed.
  • Learning, understanding, continuously improving, and promoting the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Specific skills, proficiencies, and knowledge in field related to position, as identified by department leadership.
