About The Position

We are seeking a Project Mechanical Engineer for a contract-to-hire position in Marietta, GA. This role requires the ability to commute to the office 3-4 days a week. The engineer will be responsible for translating customer specifications into complete mechanical systems, collaborating with electrical and controls teams, creating 3D models, managing clash detection, and developing 2D layout drawings. The position also involves performing critical calculations for system performance and safety, documenting decisions, and communicating effectively with on-site teams. Key tasks include developing 2D designs and 3D modeling for conveyor and material handling systems, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, analyzing system throughput, supporting installation and commissioning, and managing engineering project deliverables for large automation initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
At least 2 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience
At least 2 years of industry in at least one of the following industries: Material Handling, Distribution centers, Parcel sorting systems , Supply Chain Automation, Automation Integration, Robotics Systems, Commercial HVAC / Data Center Systems Automation
Minimum 2 years creating drawings in AutoCAD 2D & 3D, and AutoDesk tools (Revit, Navisworks, Vault, etc.).

Nice To Haves

Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
3D modeling experience of systems and subsequent clash detection management
2D design approval experience and demonstrated work with installation layout drawings
Knowledge and experience with the International Building Code (IBC), ANSI B11 Machine Guarding Standards, ASME B20.1 Safety Standards for Conveyors and Related Equipment, and ISO 13849-1.

Responsibilities
