About The Position

Join an established private manufacturing company with fewer than 100 employees in Walpole. The role offers varied, hands-on work spanning design, prototyping, building, and testing equipment used in military applications. The engineer will design electronic-product enclosures, chassis, thermal solutions, and cables, and support qualification testing and failure analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in electronics packaging design; experience may be from a variety of industries.
• Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and GD&T.
• Strong 3-D design skills using SolidWorks or ANSYS.
• Thermal, structural, and vibration analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Design enclosures, chassis, thermal solutions, and cables for military-grade electronic products.
• Design for shock and vibration, EMI shielding and grounding, and environmental sealing.
• Solve thermal problems in sealed, space-limited enclosures and verify solutions through testing and analysis.
• Design and document cable and wire-harness assemblies.
• Develop hands-on prototypes using 3-D printing and other tools.
• Plan and support qualification testing to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461, including test fixtures, test plans, and root-cause analysis of failures.
