We are currently looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Ottawa, ON. Requirements

  • Experience in mechanical design, preferably in a field related to gas turbine design, development, or testing
  • Intermediate engineer: Minimum two (2) years’ experience
  • Demonstrated experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: Machine design Welded design and large-scale fabrication Design of structures subjected to dynamic loading Fatigue life assessment of structures Design and analysis of thermally loaded structures Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred) Rotordynamic Analysis Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems ASME Section VIII and B31.3 Installation supervision and on-site troubleshooting
  • PEO membership or eligibility for PEO membership is required
  • Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents to meet the requirements of the Controlled Goods Program and other applicable government security clearance regulations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering discipline

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the detailed design of mechanical systems, facility planning, and equipment layout.
  • Be responsible for the planning, development, and management of designs from the conceptual stage through fabrication and installation, including: Detailed design and analysis
  • Developing relevant documentation (design briefs, engineering reports, procurement specifications, installation instructions and commissioning plans)
  • Chairing design reviews
  • Providing technical support during procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning
  • Overseeing designers in the production of detailed drawings
  • Travelling internationally to vendor and client sites for design reviews, inspections, commissioning, and acceptance testing activities for up to 6 weeks at a time
  • Participate in development and improvement of department processes and procedures
