Nexus Circular•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

Nexus Circular is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as Mechanical Discipline Lead for large capital facility expansion projects. The role independently manages the mechanical engineering scope throughout the project lifecycle, from early FEL-2 scope development and FEL-3/FEED through detailed design, construction, and commissioning. The Mechanical Discipline Lead is accountable for defining project scopes, specifying static and rotating equipment, and providing technical leadership to engineering and EPC partners. The successful candidate will take ownership of the mechanical discipline, drive standardization, and collaborate across project teams. The role supports designs that are safe to erect and operate, with attention to constructability, operability, and maintainability. Travel to Nexus locations or vendor sites may be required, approximately 20% of the time.

  • Demonstrated experience leading the mechanical discipline on large capital projects in the chemical-process, petrochemical, or advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical industry codes and standards, including API, ASME, and ANSI, for static equipment such as tanks and vessels, rotating equipment such as pumps, and piping systems.
  • Proven ability to independently lead and manage engineering contractors (EPCs) and vendors through all phases of capital project execution.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to interact effectively across organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities on different timelines in a fast-paced, purpose-driven, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to take ownership, work proactively and independently, and drive tasks to completion.
