Requirements

  • BS in ME or the relevant field and 2yrs+ in the industry in mechanical designing.
  • Engineering skills and Problem-Solving skills.
  • CAE experience in mechanical and thermal simulation is required for this role.
  • Fluent in 3D CAD software, ideally Siemens NX, to design and draw equipment-related parts, modules, and assemblies per ASME Y14.5M standard.
  • Fluent in Ansys CAE softwares in mechanical/thermal, dynamic/static analysis.
  • Familiarity with design for function, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements.
  • Solid hands-on ability to integrate, debug/troubleshoot, and demonstrate robust solutions in an engineering lab environment.
  • Fluent in daily English conversation.
  • Fluent in technical communication with data, models, and ideas.
  • Fluent in technical reporting and documentation.
  • Have an open mind to listen to other people's opinions to improve the ideas, plans, designs, etc.
  • Have vital learning agility and curiosity to learn new concepts, ideas, and subjects through working and self-learning, especially outside of the person's background.
  • Have a positive mindset to move the project forward.
  • Have a volunteering mindset to help and support other team members to accelerate and move the project forward smoothly.
  • Have the flexibility to handle random projects and frequent priority/scope changes.
  • Be able to commute to the office frequently. (This job role requires the lab experiment.)
  • Be able to carry 20lbs parts around. (This job role requires part-handling in the lab.)

Responsibilities

  • Simulating and analyzing waveguide and waveguide stack mechanical and thermal model.
  • Collaborating with backend engineers, characterizing the experimental result and comparing to the simulation.
  • Providing insight of the simulation/experiment to the backend team for the performance improvement, with minimum mechanical engineering guidance.
  • Following all the safety protocols in day-to-day activities.
  • Communicating technical ideas and concepts to other mechanical engineering people and non-mechanical engineers.
  • Interfacing with internal and external customers to understand issues to solve.
  • Designing/modeling mechanical modules and components, such as waveguide, cover glasses, and waveguide stack.
  • Setting up the CAE model, performing the analysis and interpreting the data.
  • Performing experiment to correlate the analysis to the test.
  • Calibrating the model.
  • Guiding or providing technical insight from the analysis for performance improvement.
  • Documenting the analysis result, presenting it to internal/external customers, and aligning the direction with them.
  • Generating drawings per internal and relevant industrial standards.
