About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Building Engineering Services team in our Philadelphia, PA office. The Mechanical Engineer will work alongside engineers and architects as part of a design team applying mechanical engineering principles towards the successful design of low to mid-rise new commercial construction projects, as well as evaluating existing buildings for renovations or reuse. Strong building systems begin with strong collaboration. Our engineers work alongside architects, structural professionals, and sustainability specialists within one integrated team, allowing decisions to be evaluated early and thoroughly. By coordinating systems with building layout, site conditions, regulatory requirements and budget considerations from the start, we help reduce surprises later. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with Mechanical Emphasis from an ABET accredited University.
  • 0-3 years' experience.
  • Experience in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrate basic investigative, analytical and research skills.
  • Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, design software, etc.).
  • Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team (i.e. collaborate, contribute, respect others).
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.
  • Demonstrate basic, general writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge and develop basic skills in building HVAC and plumbing design.
  • Apply learned techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare low-level complexity general engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply the fundamentals of Mechanical engineering concepts and principles to assigned design tasks.
  • Assist with other project related tasks such as field work, design, documentation, coordination, and CAD work.
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and work under direct supervision on all aspects of tasks assigned.
  • Work within Revit and AutoCAD to successfully produce construction documents within established budgets and deadlines.
  • Perform site visits and field investigations.
