About The Position

Innova Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a Full-Time Contract, with a 12-month duration, potentially leading to a contract-to-hire role. The position is located in Palm Bay, FL. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for process design, development, and qualification/testing of complex mechanical hardware, including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware, within a program team environment. The candidate is expected to take ownership of significant system aspects and adapt to evolving program needs. Responsibilities may include program support and technical leadership in areas such as requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing. Experience with 3D modeling, critical hardware design and development, and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team are essential. The role requires hands-on work with hardware in a lab environment.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI CI Poly Security Clearance.
Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo.
Understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
Experience with machined part design.
Experience with plastic and/or sheet metal part design.
Manufacturing technologies and design best practices.
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Highly organized and detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

Experience in design or development of precision mechanisms.
Experience with mechatronic systems.
Experience with packaging of modules and electronics.
Consideration of thermal and structural loading.
Optimizations for size, weight, and power.
Experience with any of the following: actuators, custom gear trains, electro-optical systems, and materials testing.
Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFMA) experience.
Understanding of EVMS cost and schedule practices.

Responsibilities

Perform process design, development, and qualification/testing tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware.
Own larger aspects of the system and be flexible with tasking as the program evolves.
Provide program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing.
Utilize experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development.
Work independently within a multi-disciplined team environment.
Be hands-on with hardware in a lab environment.
Provide regular communication and briefings, both formally and informally, to internal and external stakeholders, including customer representatives.
Generate Technical Data Package components (Part and Assembly drawings, etc.).
Prototype, Integrate, and Test component parts and assemblies.
Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems.
Perform test and evaluation of component parts and systems.
Participate in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviews.
Participate in product change review meetings and discussions and implement changes.
Participate in interdisciplinary design teams and reviews.
Direct Designers, Technicians, and Operators as part of a design team.
Support field testing/demonstration efforts as an ME field representative.
