About The Position

RCT Systems, Power Systems Division, is seeking Mechanical Engineers specializing in 3D electronics packaging, thermal system design, and hardware build and test. Responsibilities of a qualified Mechanical Engineer candidate will include: Package complex power converters, energy storage systems, and PLC systems Build and test complex power converters, energy storage systems, and PLC systems Design thermal management systems for power electronics Perform structural analysis for components, support structures, and ruggedized enclosures under harsh environmental conditions and shock and vibration Use FEA, CFD, and hand calculations for thermal and structural analysis Create, review, and issue prototype and production level drawings IAW GD&T standards Source vendors and communicate for quoting and procurement of custom parts Prepare and perform technical presentations and design reviews for customers Create and maintain process and build documentation in conjunction with operations team. Mid-Level engineers may also expect to: Lead cross-functional teams to develop solid-state power conversion systems Provide technical input into business development activities Mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship is required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
  • BS in mechanical engineering is required; graduate work is acceptable in lieu of some work experience

Nice To Haves

  • CREO 3D modeling software
  • Windchill PLM software (Administrator experience is a plus)
  • FEA and CFD modeling software packages
  • Designing thermal management systems and/or high-performance heat exchangers
  • Mechanical shock and vibration analysis
  • Working with on-site manufacturing in a rapid prototyping environment
  • MW scale power converters for Naval ship applications.
  • Preparation of technical data package and related documentation
  • Thermal design of coldplates, heat exchangers, and overall TMS for large power electronics systems
  • Structural, thermal, and shock and vibration analysis in SimLab, Creo Simulate, and Creo Flow
  • Naval shipboard and undersea submersible component design
