This position involves a combination of mechanical design tasks, typically dealing with unique design issues for fish passage projects, hydroelectric turbines, gates, trash rakes, hydroelectric balance of plant retrofits and rehabilitation efforts at existing hydroelectric projects as well as the design of new power stations with a future in customer-facing consulting work. Requirements

  • EIT or P.Eng with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience; 3 of which must be acceptable and verifiable for the Engineering Board of your province.
  • Experience developing long-lasting relationships with clients.
  • Experience with machine design preferably facility design in oil systems, water pumping systems, piping, or other hydraulic/ pneumatic machinery.
  • Experience working in an integrated design environment and 3-D modeling (Revit, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Permanent authorization to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and growth oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Hydroelectric design, consulting experience, or construction support.
  • FEA and or CFD experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and consulting for hydroelectrical power plants.
  • Assist clients in solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply engineering skills from analysis and design through to construction.
  • Perform meaningful work that focuses on providing practical solutions to complex problems affecting energy, water, and the environment.
  • Deal with unique design issues for fish passage projects, hydroelectric turbines, gates, trash rakes, hydroelectric balance of plant retrofits and rehabilitation efforts at existing hydroelectric projects.
  • Design of new power stations.
  • Customer-facing consulting work.
