Job Summary Researches, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instruction son new projects or assignments. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contact with others is primarily internal with some external contacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5-10 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply trigonometry, calculus and statistics for design, analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledgeable in using software conducive to presenting analytical results, such as charts, graphs, and presentations using Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
  • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.
  • US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
  • Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)
  • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately +/-10___%.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
  • May plan and direct other engineers in fabrication of equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
  • Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.
