Requirements

  • Researches, plans, and designs mechanical products and systems.
  • Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Works with the design team to learn work flow, CAD drawing preparation and BOM structure.
  • Participates in design reviews with design team members and reads and interprets technical materials.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems with consideration for cost, performance, materials, maintenance requirements, appearance, and impact on the end user.
  • Oversees all aspects of the design, development, construction, and testing processes.
  • Conducts research into the function and application of different types of mechanical components, heating and cooling processes, material handling techniques, control methods for liquids and gasses, etc.
  • Explores various possible machine configurations and aids in selecting the optimum design for satisfying the customer’s processing objectives.
  • Performs the necessary calculations to predict the performance of the finished machine.
  • Specifies appropriate materials and components to ensure that the standards of performance, quality, cost, and safety are met.
  • Uses computer software to generate designs, models, and documentation.
  • Assists in supplier selection and in the evaluation of incoming materials.
  • Provides manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of assigned processes.
  • Serves as a technical resource to other departments to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Works with the design team to learn work flow, CAD drawing preparation, and BOM structure.
  • Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Makes engineering changes/improvements within CAD environment and processes engineering change requests in a timely manner.
  • Ensures customers are satisfied, consistent with expectations.
  • Participates in design reviews with design team members and reads and interprets technical materials.
  • Provides product support on the manufacturing floor.
