About The Position

Teradyne is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our centralized Mechanical Engineering organization supporting advanced automatic test equipment (ATE) and emerging silicon photonics technologies. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to challenging multidisciplinary programs involving mechanical design, thermal management, precision structures, optical integration, and system-level development. As a member of our engineering team, you will collaborate with electrical, optical, software, systems, and manufacturing engineers to develop innovative solutions from concept through production. You will contribute to mechanical architecture development, resolve complex technical issues, and support programs that help enable some of the industry's most advanced semiconductor and photonics technologies. We are looking for engineers who enjoy learning, collaborating, and solving complex technical problems. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
8+ years of experience developing complex mechanical or electromechanical systems.
Demonstrated experience contributing to the design and development of sophisticated products and systems.
Strong mechanical design, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Experience working with evolving requirements and technical ambiguity.
Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
Interest in mentoring and supporting the development of other engineers.
Commitment to continuous learning and technical growth.

Nice To Haves

Experience in semiconductor equipment, automated test equipment, silicon photonics, optics, precision instrumentation, or related advanced technology industries is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to successful technical outcomes.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the development and implementation of mechanical architectures for advanced ATE and silicon photonics systems.
Lead significant portions of complex product development efforts and provide technical guidance within assigned projects.
Develop solutions involving thermal management, precision mechanical systems, packaging, and system integration.
Perform engineering analysis, evaluate design tradeoffs, and help identify appropriate technical solutions.
Support the resolution of complex engineering challenges throughout the product development lifecycle.
Collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop robust, manufacturable, and scalable products.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Mentor early-career engineers through coaching, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Support products from concept development through qualification and production release.
