About The Position

Arconic Aluminum Extrusion serves the global aerospace and automotive markets with specialized engineering, high-quality forgings and extrusions. Our vertically integrated capabilities and deep materials science expertise in aluminum and titanium structural casting are industry-leading. Arconic is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Aluminum Extrusion business unit in Chandler, AZ. The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for capital improvements and assisting with production uptime.

Requirements

  • Technical and interpersonal skills essential to teamwork.
  • Access to controlled technology as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with production and maintenance to upgrade existing equipment, perform repairs, and install new machinery.
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations by acting as a resource for skilled trades and contracted services.
  • Providing high-level technical assistance to production/maintenance personnel during both planned and unplanned equipment service interruptions, including after-hours or weekends.
  • Applying root cause problem-solving (troubleshooting) techniques to find and eliminate sources of recurring equipment failures through creative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Working with other plant departments to identify, investigate feasibility, and/or create business cases to acquire funding for capital projects.
  • Managing capital projects from conception to commissioning, startup, and handover phases, including equipment supplier/contractor selection and BU level procurement interaction.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation (drawings, preventative maintenance procedures, start-up/shutdown procedures, etc.) for new and existing processes and procedures in the assigned work area.
  • Observing and supporting plant safety goals and initiatives.
