About The Position

AECOM is seeking an initiative-taking individual with a mechanical engineering background to be based in the Denver, Colorado office to support mining projects in the planning and execution phases of projects and to help augment a team of Mechanical Professionals. The Mechanical Engineer will be working as an integral part of the team that is expected to provide the following responsibilities:

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • EIT certification.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Passing score on the NCEES Professional Engineer (PE) exam.
  • PE in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or ability to acquire a PE in any of these States within 6 months of obtaining PE.
  • On-site field experience in facility walk-downs, commissioning or start-ups for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Performed mechanical pipe stress modeling using industry standard software programs in conformance with codes and standards as well as project requirements.
  • Performed hydraulic and pumping computations and computer modeling and analysis of water distribution systems using industry standard software programs.
  • Experience in piping design collaborating with technical staff that uses 3D modeling software to produce construction-level drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical engineering design and analysis for mining and industrial projects, including pumps, tanks, piping systems, and related equipment.
  • Develop engineering calculations and technical reports to support design decisions and clearly communicate results.
  • Support early-stage design activities, including trade-off studies, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and facility layouts.
  • Prepare and contribute to detailed design deliverables, including equipment and piping layouts, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, including bid analyses, vendor submittal reviews, and shop drawing reviews in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform pipe stress analysis and ensure designs meet project, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver work on schedule and within budget, while providing guidance to junior engineers as needed.
