About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer V with a strong background in the design and/or operation of PWR and/or BWR plants. The ideal candidate will have past experience with feasibility studies, equipment reliability issues, and system modifications and upgrades to improve safety and reliability. This role requires the demonstrated use of independent judgment in performing calculations, modifications, and designs, and the ability to present and justify modification packages to quality and safety reviews. The position demands superior technical knowledge of the mechanical discipline and the ability to collaborate effectively within project teams to evaluate conditions and develop design changes that enhance plant performance, safety, and reliability. The ability to interface and work with equipment vendors is also essential. Familiarity with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry, as well as working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations (including the NRC), is required. Superior client skills, an understanding of the roles of other disciplines, and the ability to coordinate and interface with other disciplines are a must.

Requirements

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program.
  • 15 years of relevant engineering experience (10 years with a Professional Engineer [PE] license).
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial nuclear power industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in performing calculations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, system modifications and/or upgrades to nuclear power plant systems to improve safety and reliability.
  • Experience in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data prepared by other engineers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Mathcad, Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted commercial nuclear power plant access.
  • Ability to understand and comply with company policies, procedures and processes.
  • Overtime work required.
  • Travel to client sites required with periods of on-site field/office work.
  • Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas.

  • MS in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university is desirable.

Responsibilities
