About The Position
The Mechanical Engineer R&D Co-op role focuses on the design and testing of mechanical components and fixtures for hardware testing. The incumbent will generate test plans, analyze results, compose reports, and troubleshoot issues during testing. This is a 12-month co-op position starting in January or May of 2027.
Requirements
- Enrollment in an Mechanical Engineering degree program
- Completion of at least second year of a Bachelors degree
- Classwork in statics, dynamics, physics, and statistics
- Attention to detail, positive attitude, good work ethic
- Ability to independently troubleshoot
- Teamwork experience through coursework, lab work, and/or internship
Nice To Haves
- Experience with CAD software, Matlab, Python
- Experience with finite element analysis
- Medical device classwork
Responsibilities
- Design and test mechanical components and parts
- Design and development of mechanical fixtures for hardware testing
- Generate hardware test plans and protocols
- Analyze test results and compose test reports
- Troubleshoot problems during testing
- Assume ownership of specific test methods and sub-modules
- Routinely provide readouts to the larger hardware team about the progress of their work
