About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/ Principal Mechanical Engineer on the Command and Launch Infrastructure Integration team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites. The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP).

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineer (T2) - Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 2 years of experience; or Master's degree with 0 years of experience.
  • Principle Mechanical Engineer (T3) - Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
  • An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Experience with design/fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and/or installations.
  • Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) or Product Data management (PDM) tools.
  • Experience with 3-D modeling

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products
  • Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards
  • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.)
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter CPLM (Common Product Lifecycle Management) tools
  • 2+ year of experience with 3-D modeling tools
  • 2+ year of experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) tools

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement deployable mechanical mechanisms that are verified through test/analysis
  • Develop CAD models visualizing various design solutions
  • Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives
  • Develop Infrastructure Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes.
  • Identify gaps within a design and/or requirements and provide a resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others.
  • Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications.
