About The Position

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our Building, Energy and Infrastructure (BEI) Group in Raleigh. In this role you will be a technical expert in HVAC and controls systems for design projects as part of a multi-discipline project team to produce mechanical design/construction drawings and specifications for healthcare facilities. You will also direct and conduct technical evaluations of mechanical equipment/systems, hydronic and steam systems, and medical gas systems along with preparing design calculations and assessments as needed to support projects. This person serves as the mechanical engineer providing technical and design services in support of projects as part of a multi-discipline project team.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • NC PE or ability to acquire - NC PE quickly through reciprocity.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Healthcare facilities projects required.
  • Experience with HVAC systems including hydronic systems, steam systems and medical gas systems is required.
  • High technical ability, interested in technology and staying current in the field.
  • Good ability to communicate and a self-starter.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert in HVAC and controls systems for design projects as part of a multi-discipline project team to produce electrical design/construction drawings and specifications for healthcare facilities.
  • Provide technical and design services in support of projects as part of a multi-discipline project team.
  • Direct and conduct technical evaluations of mechanical equipment/systems, hydronic and steam systems, and medical gas systems and prepare design calculations and assessments as needed to support projects.
  • Complete mechanical engineering design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Assist in the technical development of subordinate staff in mechanical design best practices.
  • Communicate and coordinate technical evaluations and designs, technical writing of reports and correspondence with other discipline professionals, as well as with a Project Manager and representatives of the client organization to complete work efficiently.
  • Stay current with local, state & federal design standards and regulations.
  • Develop new work and clients related to mechanical engineering services for healthcare facilities.
