We are currently looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering services within the Mechanical and Materials Handling Group in the Worley Consulting business. Under the supervision of senior engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs), the Junior Mechanical Engineer will support a diverse range of projects including front-end studies, site inspections, materials handling design, equipment selection, and preparation of engineering deliverables. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a variety of industrial projects including ports, marine terminals, mining, and bulk materials handling facilities while developing their technical skills within a multidisciplinary consulting environment. This position will be based in our Vancouver, BC. Canada office.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience or experience working in facilities involving moving materials and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with materials handling systems, including conveyors, transfer systems, bulk handling equipment, or similar systems.
  • Experience supporting engineering design activities including equipment selection, layouts, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong computer literacy and familiarity with engineering design tools.
  • Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with port and terminal, mining, industrial, or similar operating environments is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and conceptual design of materials handling systems and mechanical equipment for industrial facilities, ports, marine terminals, mining, and related projects.
  • Support development of site layouts, equipment arrangements, and preliminary equipment selection and sizing.
  • Assist with engineering calculations, equipment specifications, scopes of work, operational descriptions, and other technical documentation.
  • Review vendor documentation, drawings, and technical submissions.
  • Support preparation of engineering deliverables including reports, drawings, datasheets, and design documentation.
  • Perform site equipment inspections, load tests, and operational/motion checks.
  • Participate in ongoing learning activities with internal Worley employees and vendors.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.
  • Undertake business travel as required by project needs.
