About The Position

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer, JM located at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA. This role is responsible for providing guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems, and to investigate, evaluate and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems. The position involves determining theoretical principles, applying advanced analytical methods, and analyzing tasks to estimate manpower and material requirements. The Mechanical Engineer will also prepare schedules, supervise technicians in fabrication and installation, and may direct field operations. Responsibilities include evaluating operational systems, designing modifications, developing new applications, and planning/organizing development activities. The role also involves coordinating manpower and activities, providing technical guidance for design fabrication drawings, and reviewing/correcting drawings. Additionally, the engineer will develop, release, and maintain documentation, and review, write, and edit reports. The position requires frequent use of technical standards and theories, working under general supervision to provide solutions to technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Engineering (ABET required) and 0-2 years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET required) and 2-4 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD or other USG ISR/SOF Organizations.
  • Experienced with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles and theories.
  • Works under general supervision, providing solutions to technical problems of moderate scope/complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Providing guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Investigating, evaluating and developing new applications for existing equipment and systems.
  • Determining theoretical principles involved and applying advanced analytical and investigative methods and techniques.
  • Analyzing assigned tasks to provide estimates of manpower and material required to complete.
  • Preparing schedules for accomplishing tasks within estimates.
  • Supervising and coordinating technicians in fabrication and installation of complex mechanical and related electronic equipment and systems.
  • Directing field operation and maintenance activities of mechanical equipment/systems installations.
  • Evaluating operational systems and designs modification to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.
  • Developing new applications requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity, and complex test procedures for equipment and systems which are significantly different from existing designs.
  • Planning, organizing and conducting the development of each assignment; coordinating manpower assigned to each activity and coordinating the activities of group involved in various stages of overall program to ensure effective integration.
  • Providing technical guidance to personnel involved with producing design fabrication drawings.
  • Reviewing and correcting drawings to ensure proper engineering techniques and required specification have been utilized.
  • Developing, releasing and maintaining documentation in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
  • Reviewing, writing and editing reports such as evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, etc. to provide recommendations, conclusions, and other data.
