About The Position

Trane Technologies is hiring a Mechanical Engineer Intern in Grand Rapids, MI. In this role, you will assist the Project Engineering team to create custom solutions, collaborate with production and general support as needed. You will also assist with the design, audits, and part creation. This will also include providing start-up support and process improvements during the launch of projects. Our internship opportunities offer candidates working toward their Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering exposure to a variety of assignments which could include: Product Development, Failure Analysis, Value Engineering, Design, and Verification Testing. This position has been designated as On-Site.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Physics with a cumulative overall GPA at or above 3.0
  • At least one internship or work experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills such as: campus organizations, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or leadership of work projects
  • U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Engineering team to create custom solutions.
  • Collaborate with production and general support as needed.
  • Assist with the design, audits, and part creation.
  • Provide start-up support and process improvements during the launch of projects.
  • Trouble shoot and improve new/existing manufacturing processes.
  • Support the development and maintenance of process documentation.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Support MDI process of problem solving, and continuous improvement as assigned.
  • Owns, organizes, and collaborates with teams to successfully execute complex projects.
  • Dive deep into an assignment to fully grasp the engineering and technical core concepts to deliver innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
