About The Position

Join RTX’s Advanced Products Center (APC) Texas Materials and Process team in McKinney, Texas, as a Mechanical Engineering Intern focused on Special Tooling and Test Fixtures. Support product builds through mechanical design processes, from concept creation to final assembly. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to help design, fabricate, and implement special tools and fixtures.

Requirements

Be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM major and remain actively enrolled through the internship/co-op session.
Have a minimum of 60 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
Have experience with 3D modeling software, such as Creo or ACAD. Experience may come from on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

Design and create mechanical models and drawings for special tools and test fixtures of low to moderate complexity.
Support the design process, including obtaining quotes, making make-versus-buy decisions, and tracking schedules and budgets.
Present status updates during meetings and follow documentation guidelines for customer-owned property.
Assist with assembly of designs and automated test set designs as needed.
Collaborate with product, quality, reliability, test, and industrial engineers, as well as operations leaders, to support product manufacturing.
Resolve technical challenges in a timely manner while focusing on customer needs.
