About The Position

Join RTX’s Advanced Products Center (APC) Texas Materials and Process team in McKinney, Texas, as a Mechanical Engineering Intern focused on special tooling and test fixtures. The intern supports product builds through mechanical design, from concept creation to final assembly, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on the design, fabrication, and implementation of tools and fixtures. The role is onsite and requires U.S. citizenship because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program or contract. No security clearance is required.

Requirements

• Be pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM major and remain actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Have at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
• Have experience with 3D modeling software, such as Creo or ACAD; experience may come from employment, research, coursework, or projects.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access information under the program or contract.

• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical models and drawings for special tools and test fixtures of low to moderate complexity.
• Support the design process, including obtaining quotes, making make-versus-buy decisions, and tracking schedules and budgets.
• Present status updates during meetings and follow documentation guidelines for customer-owned property.
• Assist with assembling the intern’s designs and automated test set designs as needed.
• Collaborate with product, quality, reliability, test, and industrial engineers, as well as operations leaders, to support product manufacturing.
• Resolve technical challenges promptly while focusing on customer needs.
